Hands On Georgia presents
the second annual
Georgia Summit on Volunteerism, Thursday, November 1 at the
Georgia International Convention Center in College Park.
As indicated by the theme, Stories of Service: From Inspiration to Action,
participants will gather tools necessary to imagine, create and execute their
own stories of service. Volunteer managers from community agencies,
faith-based organizations and other nonprofit groups are encouraged to attend.
They will be joined by members of AmeriCorps, VISTA and Senior Corps.
Summit registration is $75.
Governor Sonny Perdue will be present to honor the story successfully created by
Georgia’s Volunteer of the Year. In addition, Darryl Hammond, CEO and founder
of KaBOOM! will share how service to children is the cornerstone of his story.
As well, the story of how the creation of the world’s largest volunteer
organization – Points of Light Foundation & Hands On Network will be shared by
CEO Michelle Nunn.
Samplings of the workshop offerings include disability awareness training,
information on the importance of program evaluation and assessment in program
development and tips on how to successfully engage college students in community
service.
