Hands On Georgia Week 2007

State Challenge Grants

Volunteer of the Year Award

Hands On Georgia presents the second annual Georgia Summit on Volunteerism, Thursday, November 1 at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park.

As indicated by the theme, Stories of Service: From Inspiration to Action, participants will gather tools necessary to imagine, create and execute their own stories of service.  Volunteer managers from community agencies, faith-based organizations and other nonprofit groups are encouraged to attend.  They will be joined by members of AmeriCorps, VISTA and Senior Corps.  Summit registration is $75.

Governor Sonny Perdue will be present to honor the story successfully created by Georgia’s Volunteer of the Year.  In addition, Darryl Hammond, CEO and founder of KaBOOM! will share how service to children is the cornerstone of his story.  As well, the story of how the creation of the world’s largest volunteer organization – Points of Light Foundation & Hands On Network will be shared by CEO Michelle Nunn.

Samplings of the workshop offerings include disability awareness training, information on the importance of program evaluation and assessment in program development and tips on how to successfully engage college students in community service.

Summit registration can be found at HandsOnGeorgia.org.  For more information, email info@Hands On Georgia or call 404.979.2842.
