Summer Service Camps

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Sarah Hardy (L) and Ellen Murray (R) at the
Thomasville Thomas County Humane Society

Camp Impact was quite a week.  It was not only extremely fun having great fellowship with people from our church and from other schools and churches, but also people we volunteered with were wonderful.  It was an amazing, eye opening experience.  One of my favorite parts of the week was working with Mr. Manwaring and Habitat for Humanity.  I really love doing a project where I can see what I've done.  That's one reason I signed up - to see the change I could make in our community no matter how small my contribution.  Also, another favorite part of the week was working at the Thomasville Community Resource Center.  I love working with kids, and these children were energetic and happy.  I had two buddies - Cedric and William, who were both great.  Unlike the work at Habitat, I can't see the work I did in their lives, but I hope I had some positive effect on their lives.  That is the other reason that I   signed up . To work with people to hopefully better their lives in some small way.   This camp helped me grow spiritually because I got to work with fellow Christians doing good deeds.  Also, the people that we volunteered with were Christians and their faith helped me.  That is the miracle that I witnessed during Camp Impact - The faith of those around me, some worse off than me, but their faith was still strong.
