Hands On Georgia
Volunteer of the Year Award

Georgians take their volunteerism seriously.  Across the state residents sign up in no small numbers to serve their fellow citizens and strive to better their communities.  Neighbors work side by side clearing playgrounds and cleaning river beds.  High school students mentor middle school students and read to kindergartners.  Mothers organize blood drives and book drives.  Fathers coach baseball and teach life skills.

These selfless individuals serve because there is a need.  They volunteer because if they don't, who will?  These everyday citizens understand that a community thrives when someone is willing to pick up a shovel, raise a paint brush or organize a clothing drive.

As the state's premier organization committed to volunteerism and civic engagement, Hands On Georgia wants to honor the neighbor, student, mother or father - citizen - who exemplifies volunteerism in Georgia.  Hands On Georgia is accepting nominations now for The Hands On Georgia Volunteer of the Year Award.  Nominate your favorite, most worthy volunteer today!

All nominations must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2006. Winner should be present to accept their award from Governor Sonny Perdue on Monday, October 16 at the Hands On Georgia Volunteerism Summit in Atlanta.

Completed nomination forms should be returned to:  Suzanne Davis via email or fax to 404-979-2901.
