On Monday, October 16, in Atlanta, Hands On
Georgia will host the
Georgia Summit on Volunteerism in partnership
with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the Georgia Commission for
Service and Volunteerism, the Georgia Association for Volunteer Administration,
Inc. and the Council of Volunteer Administrators of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc. More than
400 attendees are expected at
this year’s day-long event. The Summit will be held at the
Georgia International Convention Center in College Park.
Governor Sonny Perdue will deliver the keynote address and award the 2006 Hands
On Georgia State Challenge Grants and the Hands On Georgia Volunteer of the Year
Award.
The $50.00 registration fee includes attendance at the keynote address, lunch
and participation in workshops.
Volunteer leaders, managers and those interested in learning how to engage
volunteers in their community are strongly encouraged to attend. The workshops
will provide information on volunteerism trends as well offer ideas from thought
leaders on how to advance and encourage greater community involvement.
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of
practitioners in the industry.
