During Hands On Georgia Week, Georgians across the state answer Governor
Perdue's Call to Service by taking charge in their communities. Hands On
Georgia Week projects vary from county to county and address the particular need
of each community being served. All that is required of volunteers is a
commitment to serve, a little sweat and a desire to have fun.

More than 700 volunteer leaders are
expected to attend the
Georgia Summit on Volunteerism presented by
Hands On Georgia. The day long
event will be held on Monday, October 16 at the Georgia International Convention
Center in College Park. The $50 registration fee covers the cost of meals
and workshops.

Governor Sonny Perdue recently
announced the availability of additional funding to communities in Georgia to
implement volunteer recruitment and management programs.
The deadline for the
Hands On Georgia State Challenge Grant
application is Friday, October 6. More information about the

Hands On Georgia is accepting nominations now for
The Hands On Georgia Volunteer of the Year Award.
All nominations must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2006. Winner
should be present to accept their award from Governor Sonny Perdue on Monday,
October 16 at the Georgia Summit on Volunteerism in Atlanta.
