Georgia Conference on Service & Volunteerism
Communicate, Collaborate & Cooperate
October 25-26, Macon Centreplex
Join us as we
showcase and celebrate Georgia's collaborative volunteer and
community service programs and provide a setting in which
new partnerships can come to life. Hands On Georgia is sponsoring
The Georgia Conference on Service and Volunteerism along with
the Georgia Commission on Service and Volunteerism, the Georgia
Association of Volunteer Administrators, and the Council of
Volunteer Administrators of Metropolitan Atlanta.
Featured speakers include: Justice Harold Melton
of the Georgia Supreme Court, Jody Olsen of The United States
Peace Corps, and Susan Ellis, a nationally recognized volunteer
trainer. A variety of interactive workshops are available
on topics such as volunteer management, board management,
volunteer retention, and networking strategies.
The Georgia Conference on Service and Volunteerism
will not only bring together professionals from across the
state, it also serves as the opening ceremonies for National
Service programs. National Service Members will take the AmeriCorps
pledge and commit to "Getting Things Done". This
is the first year the conference coincides with AmeriCorps
opening ceremonies.
"What is so exciting about this conference
is that it is also a chance for National Service members to
kick-off their term of service and interact with seasoned
volunteer managers from across the state, " says Mike
Beatty, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community
Affairs and Hands On Georgia board member. The hope is that
AmeriCorps members will form partnerships with agencies and
organizations in order to create outstanding volunteer opportunities
and begin to initiate change in their communities.
