| Dear Georgians:
As Governor, my priority and commitment is in
achieving a growing, educated, healthy and safe Georgia. However,
state government alone cannot hope to achieve this goal. We
need to mobilize citizens to action across Georgia. Over the
past year, I have been working to develop a strategy for improving
our communities through volunteerism. We have just launched
that effort—Hands On Georgia.
Hands On Georgia will serve as the premier statewide
organization, promoting volunteer service and civic engagement.
I am proud to announce that The Home Depot, The Coca-Cola Company
and The Woodruff Foundation have agreed to be our partners in
this effort. It is our goal that in three years Hands On Georgia
will demonstrate success by engaging 20,000 new volunteers who
contribute 500,000 hours of volunteer service to communities
across
the state.
I am excited about the opportunity that Hands
On Georgia presents. I hope you will partner with me in making
it a success.
Best regards,

Sonny Perdue
Governor
