Helping Everyone Around the Region Together (HEART)

 Lisa Pass

The Inspiration:

As Lisa Pass planned her mother's memorial service in 2006, she was amazed by the seemingly endless testimonials of those whose lives she had touched.  Their stories brought to mind the scripture, "Let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing," and this woman grew even larger in her eyes.  Suddenly she understood the legacy she had left behind, and Lisa knew that to honor her life, she had to take action.

The Action:

Lisa, with the help of home-school group DeKalb Christian Home Educators, created HEART (Helping Everyone Around the Region Together), to teach, learn and do community service.   To honor her mother, HEART adopted the residents of  the Rosemont of Stone Mountain senior facility, and make monthly visits for music and games.  HEART has also worked to feed the homeless and numerous other meaningful community based projects.
