Jade
Irvin
The Inspiration:
In 8th grade,
Jade Irvin watched a story on Animal Planet about a police dog that was shot and
injured in the line of duty. Soon after the injury the dog was given a bullet
proof protective vest.
The Action:
Because Jade’s dad was a
police officer, she was aware of a police drug dog in her community and wanted
to protect it. So she raised $800 to purchase a canine protective vest. That
was just the beginning. With a deep appreciation for military service, Jade
decorated Jesup with hundreds of yellow ribbon bows for Armed Forces Day,
volunteered with the USO to welcome home soldiers at Fort Stewart and collected
donations for the Wounded Warrior Backpack Program. Jade has also volunteered
with hospice patients, worked food drives, organized Relay for Life and most
recently has worked to promote seat belt use in her high school.
