Camp Twin Lakes

Doug Hertz

The Inspiration:

Doug Hertz’s mom was diagnosed with cancer so he decided to get involved in with a cancer charity.

The Action:

Doug began researching the various cancer related charities and went to a board meeting of Camp Sunshine - a summer camp for kids with cancer.   He soon found out that there were many camps for kids with various illnesses – but they all had a common problem – a designated accessible facility to host all of their camps.    Doug’s mission was born and he began work on building and funding Camp Twin Lakes.

Today,
Camp Twin Lakes is a unique, year-round facility that works in partnership with special needs groups to provide a great camping experience for children who otherwise might not have one.  At Camp Twin Lakes, campers gain self-esteem, self-awareness and independence by participating in recreational, therapeutic and educational programs in a supportive, nurturing, fully-accessible environment.
